RFID Technology in Livestock Farming: Ear Tags, Readers, and Applications

Animals in the farm can be seen wearing ear tags everywhere. These ear tags are divided into QR code ear tags and RFID electronic ear tags. The QR code ear tag uses laser technology to engrave coding information on its surface, which can only be successfully recognized in good light conditions and when the surface of the ear tag is clean and free of attachments. The RFID electronic ear tag adopts RFID technology, incorporating a chip and an antenna, with the coding information stored within the chip. The encoded information within the electronic ear tag can be read by an RFID handheld ear tag reader/writer.

Due to its characteristics of non-contact, long-distance, automatic identification of moving objects, readability, and writability, RFID technology is widely used in livestock farms for inventory counting, identity verification, automatic weighing and sorting, three-dimensional body size measurement systems, feeding monitoring systems, automatic feeders, and other applications.

RFID Electronic Ear Tag

An electronic ear tag is one of the animal identification methods used to prove the identity of livestock and carry individual livestock information. Each animal's electronic ear tag is unique, preventing confusion in animal individual information. When accessing an animal's individual information, its identity information can be obtained by reading the electronic ear tag.

RFID Handheld Ear Tag Reader/Writer

An RFID handheld ear tag reader/writer is an RFID recognition device used to read information stored inside an electronic ear tag. The handheld RFID ear tag reader/writer is portable and mobile, allowing for flexible use in various scenarios. It also features a high-definition and high-brightness display screen that can clearly display information both in bright light environments and indoors.
